International mother tongue day at BEPS secondary
International and Mother Tongue Day in Secondary School was a celebration of language and culture.
Students and staff communicated the richness that we bring to the school community through who we are as people with languages and culture. From Maté to l’époisse, Côte d’Ivoire to Cameroun, following the lines of Arabic calligraphy and poetry, listening to the recitation and explanation of Japanese haiku and tanka clad in yukata, we found ourselves on a tour of the world.
In passing, we took in the Atomium, Australia, names and strange accents, savoured the possibility of shish kebab, and found ourselves appreciating such richness.
